Self-control, a requirement to financial independence?

Personal finance sadly still has not become a prerequisite subject in either high school or college, and so many young adults out in the real world for the very first time can end up being pretty clueless about how to manage their money. The good news is that personal finance is not difficult to understand even for someone who failed math.

Self-control is one of the most important skills to learn. The sooner you develop the ability to delay gratification, the sooner you will find it simple to keep your finances in order. While it may be easy to purchase something on credit, it is far better to wait until you actually have the money to do so. Does anyone really want to pay interest on a pair of jeans, for example? Forget credit. Even if you just decide to keep your credit cards for the sake of convenience or for the rewards they sometimes offer, be certain to fully pay the balance when the bill arrives, and never have more cards than you can easily keep track of.
