Play-a-Round Golf

Trust and Obey?

Press the accelerator and your car goes faster. Well, most of the time. Pick up the phone set (remember those) and you’ll hear a dial tone. Always. Take a proper golf swing and your ball will obey perfectly every time.  Not sometimes. Every time.

Someone once said, “The ball doesn’t lie.” In other words, where the ball currently lies (“lucky bounces” aside) is a direct result of the ball’s flight as a result of the previous golf swing. Ever wonder how people could build a career, a life, a company, and, indeed, an entire industry on golf? It’s all because the ball obeys absolutely every time.

Want to play better golf, stop worrying about the ball and trust your swing. The ball will obey. It must. It has no other choice. Good golf is all in making one good swing every time.

So, the next time you are out on the course forget the results and just count your good swings. What’s your “good swing” score?

Editor’s Note: John Dunigan, Master PGA Professional, will be giving a hands-on seminar at Play-a-Round Golf on April 29, 2011 entitled “Know Golf.” John will teach you how club path and club face directions combine to create the actual path of the ball flight. He’ll also provide drills to help you learn to direct the ball where you want. Checkout our website calendar for more information.
