What’s the Number One Key to Better Golf Instruction?

One of the best pieces of advice when it comes to the world of sales is for salespeople to actually listen to their customers. At present, this is not always the case. But prospects and customers alike really want their sales rep to listen to them and gain a real understanding of their needs and requirements.

The same holds true for golf instruction. Does your golf instructor listen to you? If not, ask them why not.

Many golf instructors have a particular behavioral style or may even have been trained to focus on presentation and talking. Unfortunately, sometimes this style actually prevents them from listening to what their customers are really trying to tell them. Listening is a key teaching skill and is taken for granted far too often. Some instructors may actually feel they have a natural gift for it – a perspective that can mean they put very little effort or time into learning how to listen properly.

Let your instructor know where you want to go and then at your next lesson check to see if they really listened to you.  Did they listen or were they more interested in what they had to say than what you said?

What do you think? Let us know. We’re listening.
