If you’ve never played in an indoor golf league, you definitely should! While there’s lots of good benefits of playing outdoors in a golf league, many people find the same enjoyment indoors once the cold weather comes in the Fall and Winter. At the core of any golf league is always the fellowship and camaraderie, the universal feeling we all share as golfers. Commiserating in the struggle is part of the allure, and also helps alleviate anxiety. Outdoor leagues can develop into cliques, which downplays people getting to interact with everyone. This is much more effective indoors, as each player can visit and talk with everyone else rather than just those in the foursome. Playing a different, challenging course each week is another bonus for indoor golf leagues. This allows for variety, giving each experience new scenery, new challenges, and a mix of lay-outs. The chance to apply your game to the same courses that professionals play is another plus, as not many outdoor golf leagues can play Pebble Beach, TPC Sawgrass, or Hazeltine National. Additionally, the convenience factor cannot be denied. Most outdoor leagues play at least nine holes, which can take upwards of 3-4 hours, and rarely utilize a ‘shotgun start’. Conversely, indoor golf leagues usually anticipate a couple of hours at most for nine holes of golf, which is tremendously attractive to working-class people who may have families. And with every group teeing off simultaneously, there’s a more unified feeling to the league. Lastly, outdoor golf leagues are generally held on weeknights and require nearly 30 minutes of travel time, so time can be too great of a luxury for some to give up.
